Equally Different Therapy is not a crisis or emergency service.

If you need urgent help for your mental health, use NHS 111 online or call 111 and select the mental health option.

If you or someone else is in immediate danger, call 999 or go to A&E.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a GP referral?

No. You can contact Equally Different Therapy directly. We accept self-referrals, enquiries from parents and families, and referrals or enquiries from professionals.

I’m not sure which service I need. Can I still get in touch?

Absolutely. You do not need to work this out before contacting us. Tell us a little about what is happening and we can help you identify the most appropriate service or next step.

Do you support both children and adults

Yes. Our team works with children, young people, adults and families. Different clinicians have different areas of expertise, so we will help match you with the most appropriate person.

Do you only work with neurodivergent people?

No. Neurodivergence is a particular area of expertise within the practice, but we also support non-neurodivergent clients with difficulties including anxiety, low mood, emotional wellbeing and other mental-health concerns.

Can appointments be online?

Yes. Many appointments can be offered online across the UK, and face-to-face appointments are available in Dorset depending on the service and clinician. We can discuss what is most appropriate when you enquire.

Do you provide diagnostic assessments?

We currently provide specialist autism assessment and cognitive assessment services. The type of assessment, clinicians involved and process will depend on the individual and the reason for referral.

Will your reports be accepted by schools, local authorities or other services?

Our reports are prepared to professional standards and can provide evidence about an individual’s needs, assessment findings and recommendations. However, different organisations and statutory processes make their own decisions about how evidence is considered, so we cannot guarantee a particular outcome or decision.
